Scenario Information


     Case Summary:

     66 year old male at work with sudden collapse. Decreasing level of consciousness en route to ED.
- Patient given 20mg midazolam by paramedics for intubation - unsuccessful.
Pt deteriorates in ED, requires intubation and starts to seize.


     Target Learning Groups:

      Physicians, Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, Interprofessional Team

     Additional Target Learning Groups:

     Emergency Department

     Educational Goals:

     ­Demonstrate intubation including: approach to difficult airway, and approach in patient with elevated ICP
Discuss reversal of warfarin
Demonstrate seizure management
