Case Summary:

  ­A patient admitted post-ICU sepsis (medical unit) or post-MVA ORIF (surgical unit) or new onset A.Fib (cardiac unit) experiences shortness of breath. Assessment and vital signs reveal deteriorating respiratory status, non-reactive to escalating FiO2. The patient will proceed to arrest.

• Effectively treat a patient in respiratory distress
• Practice effective CPR
• Practice concise and accurate SBAR delivery

Crisis Resource Management:
• Establish role clarity and distribute the workload by determining who will do what
• Communicate effectively using closed-loop communicating, command and request clearly
• Call for help early
