Case Summary:

A 58-year-old patient with ovarian cancer is receiving a new infusion of GOOVCATM (paclitaxel and carboplatin). She develops back pain, weakness and hypotension. The team must recognize a moderate (Grade II) reaction, escalate to MRP, and manage the symptoms via medications, halt infusion, and plan restarting.

Case Summary:

Patient arrives to ED in the early AM after being found face-up in a shallow pool of water. It has been -5°C overnight. Patient is hypothermic at 25°C. Participants will have time for a zero point survey (prep prior to arrival), and 10 minutes to treat the patient. Objectives focus on anticipation and planning via ECMO consult, re-warming, and continuous CPR; mobilization of resources (warming equipment, LUCAS, guidelines/pre-printed orders); and teamwork related to role clarity, workload distribution, and effective communication.

Case Summary:

25 year old male walks into triage with multiple stab wounds. Agitated, in pain, pale and diaphoretic, place on stretcher and rushed to Trauma bay. Called stat to trauma bay. Stab wound to upper central abdomen and left posterior chest and left thigh.
Becomes SOB and hypotensive – tension pneumothorax requiring decompression
Requires OR for abdominal stabbing with hypotension
Situation is very chaotic as patient as agitated ---Perhaps we could insert some nurse or girlfriend agitators to excite the situation

Scenario Information

Case Summary:

28 year old male electrician working at construction site of new Interior Health building. Involved in set up of electrical room. Explosion heard by coworkers. Pa-tient found down near live wires. Small fire in area cleared by coworkers with extinguishers. Patient was unconscious briefly and then waking up put dazed and confused. Obvious burn injuries to hands and face.

Scenario Information

Case Summary:

38 year old male, working in home garage (door closed), sustained serious burns when a nearby container of flammable liquid caught aligaht. He tried to put out the fire using a Class A fire extinguisher which caused a massive fireball. Initial appearance: singed nose hairs and soot around his mouth/lips; patient is grimacing and yelling in pain with a hoarse voice; patient is pale with pink mucous membranes. Patient has sustained burns to face, neck, chest, abdomen, arms, hands and thighs.
